Volunteer Opportunities

If you have a little love to share and a little time...

Be a Volunteer!

Volunteers help Capital Regional Medical Center in many ways while receiving something in return.  As a Volunteer, you will discover the pleasure of receiving a grateful smile or a word of appreciation from a patient or family member.  Also, volunteering takes as little time as you choose and it is an opportunity to give a little of yourself.

What we ask of you...

You need to be adaptable, versatile and responsible under diverse circumstances.  We ask that you be:

Dependable in honoring
commitments to patients and staff.

Flexible in adapting to situations accordingly, even when viewpoints differ from your own.

Sympathetic to patients' feelings and ideas.

Discreet in respecting the hospital's rules of confidentiality.

Volunteers at Capital Regional Medical Center help by...

Providing a little Tender Loving Care and Concern to patients and their families as well as providing services that otherwise would not be available.  Services provided by volunteers include:

  • Greeting and guiding patients and visitors.

  • Keeping in touch with the surgical progress of a patient.

  • Helping in the gift shop.

  • Keeping families of critical care and emergency room patients informed.

  • Taking the refreshment cart to the patients and their families.

  • Giving assistance in outpatient areas.

  • Making special projects during the holidays for patients.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others can not keep it from themselves. --Sir James Berrie

Some things to be aware of...

Awards:  Service awards are presented by the hospital at various stages of your volunteer service.

Training:  Hospital orientation and on-the-job training are provided by the hospital.  You must attend one orientation session each year to reacquaint yourself with the hospital.  A tuberculosis screening provided by the hospital is also required annually.
